Analytics

Measure your traffic, and what visitors actually do on the page, without cookies: sources, goals, engaged time, clicks, JavaScript errors, visitor flows and Web Vitals from real users on one dashboard. The data stays in your company's own database, and Analytics is free in every VOLTR account.

Features

Traffic, conversions and page speed on one dashboard

See where visitors come from, which pages they read, whether they reach your goals and how fast the page loaded for them.

  • Real-time

Visitors on your site right now, a minute-by-minute chart of the last 30 minutes, the pages visitors are on at this moment, sources and countries. The live event feed shows pageviews, custom events, clicks and errors as they arrive; the screen updates without a page refresh.

  • Sources and campaigns

Channels are classified on the server: direct, organic search, social, email, paid, referral and AI assistants (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot). Each UTM parameter is its own breakdown.

  • Goals and revenue

Turn a pageview or a custom event into a goal, match it on event properties and give it a value if you like. Conversions, conversion rate and revenue per goal.

  • Funnels

Funnels of 2 to 8 steps (page or event steps): visitors per step, drop-off between steps and the median time between steps.

  • Web Vitals from real users

LCP, INP, CLS, FCP and TTFB are measured in your visitors' own browsers. p75 by page, device and country, the good / needs improvement / poor split by Google's thresholds, and the slowest pages.

  • World map and busiest hours

Visitors, visits and conversions by country on a world map. The weekly heatmap shows on which day and at which hour visitors arrive, in your site's time zone.

  • Filters, comparison and notes

Click a row in any table to add a filter: page, source, channel, UTM, country, device, browser, goal. Save the filters you use often as segments and share them with your team if you like. Compare with the previous period or the previous year, and pin dated notes to the chart.

  • Sharing and export

Share a read-only link to the dashboard, optionally with a password and an expiry date. Breakdowns, time series and events download as CSV.

  • Cookieless measurement

By default no cookies are used and no identifier is written to the visitor's browser. A visitor is counted with a one-way hash of the site, IP and browser, salted with a value that changes every day. IP addresses and raw browser strings are not stored.

  • A script under 6 KB

No dependencies; under 6 KB compressed. Events are sent in batches in the background with sendBeacon. In single-page apps it picks up page changes on its own.

  • Bot and spam filtering

Known bots and headless browsers are not counted; requests from outside your allowed domains are dropped. Exclude IPs and paths, honour Do Not Track and leave out your own visits.

  • Your data stays with you

Events are kept in your company's own database; companies can't see each other's data. Your data is not sold or shared with third parties for advertising or marketing. If you prefer, you host VOLTR on your own servers.

Behaviour

See what visitors do on the page

Beyond how many people came: how long they stayed, how far down the page they got, what they clicked, where they got stuck, what they searched for and which path they took.

  • Engaged time and scroll depth

Time only counts while the tab is visible and the visitor is actually using the page, so a tab forgotten in the background doesn't inflate the average. Average engaged time, scroll depth and exit rate per page; a visit counts as engaged when it stays active for at least 10 seconds, views at least two pages or reaches a goal.

  • Most-clicked elements

Clicks on links and buttons are collected per page and element: which button, with its visible text, was clicked how many times and by how many visitors. You don't need to tag elements one by one.

  • Rage clicks and dead clicks

Three or more clicks on the same spot within a second are listed as rage clicks, and a button that changes nothing on the page when clicked as a dead click: they show where visitors get stuck.

  • JavaScript errors

Errors in your visitors' browsers are grouped by type, message, file and line: how often each occurred, how many visitors it affected, when it was first and last seen, and on which pages and browsers it shows up most.

  • Site search

The terms typed into your site's search box, with the number of searches, the visitors who left right after searching and the pages viewed afterwards. Terms are read from the search parameter in the address; no extra code needed.

  • Visitor flows

A path diagram shows, up to five steps from the entry page, which pages visitors move through and where they leave. You can also look before and after a single page: where visitors came from and where they went next.

  • Visit log

A timeline for every visit: which pages were viewed, which events, clicks and errors happened, how long the visitor was engaged and which goal was reached. The log is anonymous; no visitor ID is shown.

  • Outbound links and downloads

Which external sites visitors go to and which files they download, with clicks and visitors; the query part of the link is never sent.

  • Custom and automatic events

Send custom events and revenue with voltr('event', …) or an HTML attribute. 404 pages and form submissions are counted as automatic events too; each automatic type is turned on or off in settings, and form field values are never sent.

Privacy

It counts visitors without knowing who they are

By default: no cookies, no identifier written to the browser, no stored IP address.

  • The visitor ID is a one-way hash salted with a value that changes every day; the same visitor is not recognised again the next day.
  • IP addresses and raw browser strings are not stored; location is kept at country and city level.
  • Form field values are never collected; click text is taken only from links and buttons, and shortened.
  • Email addresses and long numbers in click text and error messages are masked; the text of an element you mark with data-voltr-mask is never sent.
  • The visit log is anonymous: no visitor ID is shown, and it isn't available through share links.
  • Browsers that send Do Not Track are not counted by default; this can be changed in settings.
  • UTM parameters are kept separately; other query parameters in the address are not stored by default.
  • Persistent visitor mode is optional: when you turn it on, the script stores a first-party ID and returning-visitor and retention reports open up. In this mode, visitor consent is your responsibility.

How it works

Installed with one line

Add your site, put the install line on your pages; the installation is verified when the first visit arrives. Click, error and search tracking come with the same line.

  1. Add your site

In Analytics → Settings you enter your domain and time zone; subdomains and extra domains go on the allow list. Each site gets its own key.

  2. Add the install line

Put the line on every page of your site, usually inside <head>. Pageviews, engaged time, clicks and errors are measured automatically; custom events are sent with voltr('event', …).

  3. Installation is verified

When the first event arrives, settings show "Installation verified"; you can also verify the domain with a DNS TXT record. Visitors appear instantly on the Real-time screen.

<script defer src="https://voltr.world/analytics.js" data-site="a-12-34-…"></script> <script>window.voltr=window.voltr||function(){(voltr.q=voltr.q||[]).push(arguments)}</script> <!-- Optional: custom event and revenue --> <script>voltr('event', 'Signup', { plan: 'pro' }, { revenue: 99 })</script> <!-- Optional: an element whose text is never sent --> <div class="account" data-voltr-mask>…</div>

The key belongs to your site; you copy it in the app under Analytics → Settings, and when it is rotated the old one stops working. Add data-voltr-mask to elements whose text must never be sent (such as the name in an account menu). Visits from localhost and file addresses are not sent; voltr('ignore') leaves out your own browser.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is it different from Google Analytics?

VOLTR Analytics measures with our own script; no Google account or Google Analytics connection is needed. By default it uses no cookies, and the data stays in your company's own database and is not sent to a third party. The dashboard works behind the same login and permission structure as VOLTR's other modules. The two scripts are independent, so you can run them side by side for a while if you like.

Do click, error and search tracking need extra code?

No. Engaged time, scroll depth, clicks and JavaScript errors are measured by the same install line; site search terms are read from the search parameter in the page address (q, s, search, query, keyword). Each type can be switched off separately in your site's settings.

Does click tracking collect personal data?

For a click on a link or button, a short selector, its visible text (up to 80 characters) and its position on the page are recorded; values typed into form fields are never collected. Email addresses and long numbers in the text are masked both in the script and on the server, and the text of an element you mark with data-voltr-mask is never sent.

What does it offer for GDPR and KVKK?

The default mode counts visitors without identifying them as people: no cookies, IP addresses and raw browser strings are not stored, and the ID changes every day. The data lives in your company's database and is not sold or shared with third parties for advertising or marketing. Compliance depends on your site as a whole and on your legal assessment; you write your privacy notice accordingly.

Do I need a cookie banner?

In the default mode VOLTR Analytics uses no cookies and writes no identifier to the visitor's browser. If you turn on persistent visitor mode, a first-party ID is stored in the browser; in that mode, collecting consent is your responsibility. Whether you need a banner depends on the other tools on your site and on your legal assessment.

Will the script slow my site down?

The script has no dependencies and is under 6 KB compressed; it loads with defer, so it doesn't hold up the page. Events are sent in batches every few seconds, in the background with sendBeacon.

How long is data kept?

Raw event data is kept for 25 months by default; long date ranges are read from daily summaries. Click summaries, and error groups last seen before that period, are deleted too. A different period can be set up for your company.

Does it work with single-page apps?

Yes. The script picks up page changes (pushState, replaceState, back/forward) on its own; sites that navigate with # in the address use the data-hash attribute.

How do I leave out my own visits?

Exclude IP addresses and paths in settings. Calling voltr('ignore') in your browser stops that browser's visits from being counted; visits from localhost are never sent anyway.

Does Analytics cost anything?

No, it's completely free. Analytics is on in every VOLTR account, with no order, quote or credit card. Open your free account and add your site under Analytics → Settings.

Are there limits on free Analytics?

Fair-use limits apply: 5 sites per company and 1,000,000 events a month (page views and custom events; Web Vitals measurements, engaged time, clicks and errors don't count). Once the limit is reached, new events aren't recorded until the month ends; if you need more, the limit can be raised for your company.
